Parent Teacher Conferences will be held Thursday November 11th, 2021 from 12:45pm to 6:45pm. Please contact the high school or elementary offices to schedule for your student(s).
Parents of high school students: There will be a second copy of report cards sent home due to some grades being missed and incorrect career GPAs. The second copy will have an address label with your students name on the outside. Please be sure to sign the report card envelope and return to school.
The Salisbury-Elk Lick School District will not be able to host a traditional Veteran’s Day assembly this year, as we have done in the past, due to Covid concerns. In place of that we are inviting local Veterans and Ladies Auxiliary members of our American Legion and VFW Posts to a drive through lunch program to honor them for their service to our country and their continued support of our school and community. This will take place on Friday, November 12 because our students have Veteran’s Day off from school. The drive through lunch will be held at the Faith Factory in Salisbury. It will be from 11 AM to 12:00 PM. Please call the school at (814) 662-2733 to reserve a meal. We would like to thank all our Veterans for all they have done and continue to do to keep our country and its citizens safe.

RED RIBBON WEEK is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program.
Red Ribbon Week was started after the death of DEA Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who in 1985 was brutally tortured and murdered by drug traffickers he was investigating in Mexico. As a tribute to SA Camarena, high school friend, Henry Lozano and Congressman Duncan Hunter, created “Camarena Clubs” and the wearing of a red ribbon to show their oppositions to drugs.
Today we “Get REaDy for Red Ribbon Week, by wearing Red!”
Tomorrow wear sunglasses and neon, because you are “TOO Bright For Drugs!”

The PAYS Surveys teens of Somerset County complete has given us the following information;
• Alcohol, tobacco/vaping, and marijuana are the most common substances used among Somerset County youth.
• Inhalants are the most commonly used illicit drug used among Somerset County youth.
• Vaping has had a significant increase in use. The majority of youth report they don’t know what the substance/ingredients are that they are vaping with.

Recently, Mr. DiPasquale and Ms. Stutzman took some of our 9th graders out for a bike ride as part of our P.E. program. It was a beautiful day and a great opportunity to get outside!

Real Elks Wear Pink!
On Wednesday the 29th of September, the school welcomed The Challenge Program to campus for an award ceremony in which 10 randomly selected Juniors and Seniors who fell within the top 10% of their class for meeting the criteria in 5 different categories were awarded monetary awards from Somerset Trust Bank.
Categories for awards included STEM, academic excellence, academic improvement, attendance, and Community Service. Criteria is based on the Challenge Programs criteria as well as the reflection of the schools belief of which students qualify for the awards. Students were selected for the categories based on recorded documentation, school data, and teacher nominations. Students' names were then put into a random selection process to have a final winner chosen for each category as directed by the Challenge Award program. Many students fell within the top 10% of categories.
The previous years Seniors had been awarded at the end of the school year, so last year's juniors and sophomores were awarded for their efforts this fall.
This years Seniors were awarded as followed:
Cody Bodes for Attendance, Cosette Curts for Academic excellence, Garret Schmidt for Community Service, Andrew Beeman for Academic Improvement, and Natalie Sines for STEM.
This years Juniors were awarded as follows:
Rebekah Dix for Attendance, Malia MArtin for Academic achievement, Kayce Cook for Community Service, Kammy Bittinger for Academic improvement, and Aidan Wiltrout for STEM.
Cosette Curtis missed the assembly.
