National School Police Officer Day is Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
The board is committed to providing a safe, secure, and nurturing school environment while creating strong relationships amongst the students, facility, staff, visitors, and law enforcement. The school police officer will serve as a resource for the Salisbury-Elk Lick School District, providing support to students, faculty, staff, and families in any and all matters related to law enforcement and law related education or safety training, and will act as a liaison between the district and the local law enforcement community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide law enforcement and police services to the school buildings, school grounds and on school buses and if authorized by the court, to exercise the same powers as are now or may hereafter be exercised under authority of law or ordinance by the police of the municipality wherein the school property is located.
Enforce federal, state, and local laws or ordinances and assist in making administrative regulations regarding student conduct when requested by building principals. Make appropriate referrals to District Magisterial Courts, juvenile authorities, Court of Common Pleas, or other governmental agencies.
Build positive working relationships with school principals, faculty, staff, students, and parents to develop a positive law enforcement/education relationships.
Refrain completely from functioning as a school disciplinarian. The school police officer is not to be involved in the enforcement of disciplinary infractions that do not constitute violations of the law.
Serve as a positive role model to students.
Serve as resource for students, enabling them to be associated with a law enforcement figure in the school environment; provide guidance and consultation for students experiencing problems related to law enforcement; make appropriate referrals for outside agencies that contribute to the wellness of students and their families.
Patrol school facilities (grounds, buildings, buses, etc.) for the purpose of providing administrative visibility, maintaining security, and deterring crime.
Work in coordination with school officials to present classroom instruction to faculty, staff, and students on law enforcement related topics, crime prevention programs, and a basic understanding of the law and safety practices.

Elk Pride Basket Raffle:
We are asking parents to send in items for a Raffle Basket for each grade. Each grade has a theme to their basket. The basket raffle will start on February 21, 2023. Winners for each basket will be drawn at Family Reading night on Thursday, March 2, 2023. The themes for each grade are listed below. Donated items are due no later than February 14, 2023. Proceeds from all Elk Pride fundraisers go back to the students in the way of field trips, shirts, school assemblies and programs, and rewards for our Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support Program. Thank you for sending in items and supporting our students.
