Over the summer, senior Maddie Maust participated in the Summer Readiness Program.

"This program gave me the chance to explore what I might want (or not want) to do as a future career, while also teaching me to embrace change in my life. I got to visit so many places I never even knew were in Johnstown, Ebensburg, Somerset, Windber, and Bedford. Through this experience, I realized I can make new friends from other schools, give back through community service, have fun, and even present in front of a group from Sustainable Pittsburgh!"

SELSD proudly celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2025 on Sunday, June 8, 2025. This year’s guest speaker was Jo Ann Danks Dadisman, a 1965 graduate of Salisbury-Elk Lick High School. Jo Ann went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education (English major, Speech minor) from Shippensburg State College. She taught high school English in West Virginia for 12 years, while also sponsoring student activities and completing her Master’s in English Education. In 1981, she transitioned to higher education, teaching at various institutions before joining West Virginia University full-time. At WVU, she coordinated writing programs, co-directed a National Writing Project chapter, and taught education and writing courses. She retired after 21 years of service, receiving the Eberly College Teacher of the Year Award in 2011. A passionate advocate for storytelling in education, Jo Ann has continued to share her knowledge through workshops, teaching, motivational speaking, and promoting Appalachian cultural heritage. Congratulations to the SELSD Class of 2025!
