The Salisbury-Elk Lick FLBA Make-A-Wish campaign has ended and we were able to raise a little over $700.00! An amazing $525.00 came from our Elementary classrooms and another $175.00 from our SELSD faculty and staff. The winner of our classroom competition is… Mrs. Edwards’ 4th Grade, raising almost $200.00. In second place was Mrs. Miller’s 2nd Grade, raising a respectable $175.00. We are so grateful for everyone’s support and donations for our campaign. You’re making a difference.

Elk-Lick FFA Celebrates Ag Literacy Week! Last week, Elk-Lick FFA members shared their love of agriculture with our youngest learners during Ag Literacy Week (March 17-21, 2025)! FFA members visited Pre-K through 2nd grade classrooms to read Jackie’s Garden and lead a hands-on composting activity. Lower elementary students also got their hands dirty planting zinnia seeds to brighten up our school garden! On Thursday, the chapter invited the Somerset County Master Garnders to present on Mr.Yuk to 1st grade as March 16-22, 2025 is also Poison Prevention Week. On Friday, they brought back a fan-favorite event—the Elementary Petting Zoo! After a three-year hiatus, students got to meet and learn about a variety of farm animals up close. We also unveiled two new compost bins for our school as part of our National FFA Living to Serve Community "Free-to-Take" Garden Project. These bins will help turn food scraps into rich soil for our garden, teaching sustainability in action! A huge thank you to our members for making this week so special. We love growing the next generation of AG leaders! #ElkLickFFA #AgLiteracyWeek #LivingToServe #GrowingWithOurCommunity @PennStateMasterGardenersofSomersetCounty @PAFFAFoundation

The Salisbury FBLA sponsors an annual donation campaign. The organization that we have chosen this year is the Make-A-Wish Kids foundation. The campaign will go from March 17 to April 2. There will be containers for collection in each Elementary classroom and one container in the High School office. The Elementary classroom that raises the most money will receive a prize! A little girl named Shay, born during the Covid-19 pandemic with a pulmonary disorder, was the recipient of the $1,300 the Salisbury FBLA and local Community raised during last school year. Because she was born with a pulmonary disorder during the pandemic, it limited her ability to come into close contact with other people, due to the fear of her getting extremely ill. This led her to have very close relationships with animals. Using the $1,300 we donated, she was able to make her wish come true and get her very own puppy, a Vizsla named Ginger. Thank you to everyone who contributes to our Make-A-Wish Donation Drive. You’re making a positive impact in a child’s life. Salisbury-Elk Lick High School FBLA
