The Salisbury-Elk Lick Elementary School has been named a Title 1 Distinguished School for 2017 by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Division of Federal Programs. Title 1 is a 100 percent federally funded supplemental education program that provides financial assistance to local educational agencies to improve learning opportunities among students. Title 1 programs are designed to help students meet state standards in core subjects. Each year the Division of Federal Programs honors the top performing Title 1 schools in Pennsylvania. This year, the Division used the approved ESEA Flexibility Waiver designation of reward, which means our elementary school ranks among the state’s top 5 percent of Title 1 schools, based on math and reading PSSA proficiency and attaining all four Annual Measurable Objectives. This is an outstanding honor for our elementary school. Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” We thank everyone for their positive contributions to our school and share this honor with all of you.
